My Journey of Vector – Direct Your Vision 2018 A National Level Technical Festival

“Though the road’s been rocky, it sure feels good to me.” – Bob Marley. Indeed, the journey has been craggy. The growing number of techno-enthusiast students from IOE, Pashchimanchal Campus were thriving to showcase what’s within them to a huge number of peoples including professionals, entrepreneurs and governmental authorities. Different active clubs were then motivated to provide students with technical skills thereby creating a more practical approach towards teaching-learning process. Since the first month I joined Pashchimanchal Campus, I was engaged in a Club named Club of Technical Students (CoTS) whereby my journey started. As the days went on, I was pledged in the club deeply and consciously that later on during the election of Free Students Union, Pashchimanchal Campus, I was elected as a member as the Highest Voted Candidate. During that time, I was determined to organize a national level technical festival here at Pokhara for the first time and started planning for the event. As Confucius once said, “A journey of thousand mile begins with a single step. The day came when in one meeting of Free Students Union, all of the members supported me as an Event Coordinator for upcoming technical festival. And then the journey began. We formed a team for the technical festival and named the event as “Vector-Direct Your Vision” to indicate that the event provides a platform to direct the techno innovative vision of students into meaningful prototypes and products. The team coordinated with different active clubs from Paschimanchal Campus and finally published a promising date on 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th of Shrawan.

On 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Shrawan, 2075 the event, “Vector-Direct Your Vision” had been organized including various Major Events such as Project Demonstration and Competition on six different themes – Smart City, Clean Energy, Health and Education, Agriculture, Tourism and Open Theme, +2 level competition, Genese CodeCamp2018, Vector Talks, Laughing Yoga, Civil Modelling and Exhibition, Art Sketch Competition, Geocaching, Presentation Competition, Robo Soccer and much more.VECTOR have had a number of pre-events such as Design Workshop/Contest, Android Workshop, Python Training, Hardware Training/Contest, AI Workshops, Online Coding Contest, Soldering Competition, Seminars, Git Workshop and .NET Workshop. Those pre-events with other promotional events such as Flash Mob, Sanitation Program and  Half Marathon helped us promote the event and we were be able to receive more number of visitors and participants. There were various fun events such as Bingo, Fooding Contest, Fifa Tournament, Ring Games, Darts, Mini Soccer and so on.

Though it seems to us as a four days event, there were a lot of challenges we faced before the event like Sponsorship Collection, Influence of Political Affairs, Teamwork and Communication, Lack of adequate materials available here at Pokhara, Coordination with clubs and other administrative challenges.  As mentioned in Unstoppable by Nick Vujicic, “Your character is formed by the challenges you face and overcome”. It clearly makes sense that the more we overcome those challenges, the stronger the spirit of the event will be. Though the  challenges faced, we successfully managed to workout on those challenges to make the event better.

With the aspiring spirit and energy of the whole team members and coordinating clubs, Vector was indeed a huge success. The four days festival provided a good platform for students to showcase their talents and skills and boosted them up for further enhancement of their prototypes into products. Furthermore, the event managed to provide a good networking platform for students, teachers, professionals, entrepreneurs and governmental authorities where people from different backgrounds shared their ideas and vision for the welfare and development of the society.
