Some time back, I got an opportunity to work on a matrimonial app – Bihenepal. During this journey, I worked on the logo and brand book.
About Bihenepal
We know our society doesn’t have much dating culture, and aside from a close circle of friends and relatives, there are not many easily accessible ways to find a good life partner. Even in arranged marriages, suitable prospective brides and grooms are set up by immediate relatives or a lami. This is usually a slow and awkward process, with limited options for finding compatible matches. Additionally, in many cases, it leads to forced marriages where the sons and daughters cave under the pressure of their families to accept the arranged union. The intention with Bihenepal was to provide a platform where all Nepali singles globally would meet and find commitment under their own initiative. A large selection pool would lead to increased chances of finding a compatible mate.
Design Process
To simplify the process and create a seamless and efficient design, the journey was divided into four phases with divergent and convergent cycles forming a diamond shape – The Double Diamond. The first diamond confirms the problem and the second diamond creates the solution following an iterative process. Different observations, analyses, and iterations were done in order to create a final solution.
Research
During the research process, I went through a summary of all the previous discussions of the brand with relevant stakeholders. I pointed out a few areas which would help me guide during the entire process.
- QnA with the stakeholders to gather business values, principles, target audience, styles, needs, and so on.
- Competitor’s research on the same domain
- Mood boarding, Inspirations gathering
The following were the outcomes of the Brand Research.
Wireframes
With all the research and initial ideas, various ideations on layout, structure, theme, flow, and so on were experimented with and tried out until the elements, contents, and structure were finalized. Wireframes were created in order to shape the final book.
Final Book
With a defined structure, updated contents, and proper visual elements, final Hi-Fi designs were created. All use cases, guidelines, and examples were added to the final book and made ready for the hand-off.
